Roof check

After buying my house I see some buckets in the loft leading me to doubt if there is any leakage. It very hard to access and unable to see anything as I have never dealt with roof issue in my life. Is there a way to get my roof checked for any leakage or potential problem in next few months which I could get it fixed sooner than later.

Ask neighbours or colleagues for a recommendation for a roofer or builder, and ask them to come round and quote you for what work they think is necessary.

Best to get 2 or 3 round, to see whether they agree and how the cost varies.

How long ago did you buy the property and what did your survey say?

If you doubt if there is any leakage, what is the problem?

Was a leakage previously flagged up?

Why do the buckets reassure you?

    1) stick head in attic during daylight. Can you see light coming in through gaps in roof where tiles are broken/missing?
    2) get binoculars, stand back from house, and examine thoroughly, tile by tile, for slipped tiles.
    3) get hose up onto roof (or employ odd-job-man with ladder to take hose up). Check attic. Does water come in?
    4) wait for next heavy rain and check attic
    5) get roofer round to examine - but bear in mind he will want a job so is likely to 'find' something to fix even if there is nothing to fix!
