I hope someone can help me!
I moved into my new electric only (Economy 7 tariff) flat in January and the building has (I'm not sure what it's called) but one supply managed by the managing agents who bill us monthly and a teleswitch thing that monitors each flat's usage.
When I moved in, the heating was on 20 degrees and I didn't touch this (storage heaters). I got my bill at the end of the month for 6 days usage and it was £43!! I then turned all the heating off and haven't turned it on again since, but despite this, my bills are still £100-120 a month.
The numbers stack up (ie amount of units x price per unit) but I can't believe I'm using what they're saying I am! For example, in March I supposedly used 529 night units and 543 day units - I wasn't even in the flat for 6 days so everything, including the hot water heater, was turned off!!
I live by myself, work during the day, there's one TV, rarely a laptop, I cook each evening (just a normal meal on the hob or in the oven) and don't leave lights on when I go out etc. I'm wondering whether it could be the hot water as if you leave the economy 7 switch on, the water doesn't get hot so I have just been turning the "boost" switch on at around 11pm and turning it off again at 7.30am - but surely it's still only using the cheaper tariff electric for the majority of the time?
On top of this, there is a £9.83 a month standing charge and £8.50 admin fee!
Does this seem right?!
Thanks in advance!

Why do you need the water on over night so late, remember it will get cold. reduce this to say from 5am - 7:30Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

I turn the switch on manually and leave it on whilst I'm asleep. This is the same as the economy 7 - there is no timer so it just starts heating up when economy 7 kicks in and turns off when it finishes.0 -
I have a 2 bed flat on E7 with one large storage heater. I use around 1500 night units and 900 day units for the winter quarter.
As I'm out most of the day I find just switching the hot water on for an hour each morning is sufficient as the shower is electric.
Also check the input & output controls on any storage heaters as the output should be set low/zero during the E7 period.Freebies Received: Supersavvyme bag, Olay moisturiser, Barbara Daly/Tesco Mascara, Seeds of Change Choccie, Yorkshire Tea Kenyan teabags, Tesco mobile sim cards x 2.
Won: Yorkshire Tea goodie box0 -
Hmmm - Useing the hot water 'Booster' switch at 11pm at night costs serious money, if this is because you like a bath or shower before bed it would be worth swapping to a Bath/Shower first thing in the morning
You haven't posted the price of you Day & Night Kwh, but judgeing from the 32pence a day Standing Charge, it's possible you are paying the Manage Co a profit on every Kwh you use - Landlords/ Agents are not allowed to mark-up Gas & Elec prices - They are allowed an Admin fee which they are chargeing at £8.50 a month, so with this your cost per Kwh should be exactly the same as that on the suppliers bill - What are your costs per Kwh ?0
