MAC filtering for wireless network - Dynamode confusion

Hi :)

I've just set up my new Dynamode wireless cable router and have been getting all the security set up - WPA2 encryption, firewall, ssid changing and password changing - thanks for all the advice on this. However, when it comes to the MAC filtering part, my Dynamode configuration pages have left me a little confused

Basically on the setup pages there are two places that mention MAC address filtering:

Under: Wireless Access Control Configuration
I have it set up so that 'Enable Wireless Access Control -
Defined items in MAC list are PERMITTED to connect AP, others are DENIED' - my MAC address is in there and i can connect wirelessly - so I've done something right.

However on the Firewall page of the setup it mentions:
MAC Filtering Configuration
I have enabled the Firewall but have it checked with
'If checked, the undefined item in MAC Address list is allowed to access Internet;Unchecked means reverse'

I tried putting my MAC address in here but then lost all access to my router and configuration pages and had to reboot the entire thing and go through setup again.

So basically my question is, what are these two MAC address filtering things - what's the difference? And do I need them both set up with my MAC address in?

I've tried looking for support on the Dynamode site but, frankly, it is useless - as is the manual unless you speak ancient geek.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Naomi

Don't waste your time with MAC address filtering if you have set up WPA2 encryption!

yup not worth the while - spoofing mac addresses is easy, far far far far far easier than cracking wpa2
