Hi All,
I am 26 year old lad and as all my friends have settled down with girlfriends and started families etc I am facing the second year on the run of not having a holiday beacuse I don't have anyone to go with as I am single and all my friends have partners.
I really want to get away this year for two or three weeks and I was wondering if anyone had any ideas of where I could go on my own ??

Hi liverpoolcarl,
Might be helpful if you gave an idea of your budget/interests etc, also UK or abroad, so people knew where to start

you may be best going to places where backpackers go as most of them travel on their own, how about just getting a flight to Thailand and going off to the islands, you will meet up with lots of people etc
if you go on a package holiday you more than likely will be surrounded by families/couples who won't want to interact other than saying hello to you0 -
Hi Liverpool carl
Ive been in same boat myself
Ive been to Benidorm on my own in past hotel rialto with portland direct they do single rooms you could book flight then hotel on its own may work out cheaper. Hotel is full board.
Ive also been to New York on my own great experience.
There is alot to do on your own but depends on interests.0 -
I did Rome on my own two year ago. It was ok during the day as there are lots of things to visit but found the nights a bit dull. The whole city was full of noisy american students and so where the bars!! The good thing about travelling on your own is you get to see the sites you want to see without anyone holding you back. Also it can be done on the cheap try https://www.alpharooms.co.uk for hostels0

Hi Guys,
Thanks for the replies. I was a bit wary about posting this as I didn't want to sound like a sado!!
I really like watersports, diving, boats etc. On the other hand I feel like I could just relax for a week or two and not do much and was thinking of a villa on my own but thought that would be a bit boring.
I did have Thailand in the back on my mind.
I would look to spend about £1000 but could spend more if i needed to, less would be even better

I've been on my own to do diving in Tenerife, Cyprus and Egypt. Booked before I went out and tagged on to other groups - really enjoyed it.0

Try explorers.co.uk they have scuba diving courses and holidays which are really reasonable especially suited for solo travellers is the ocean club hotel IN SHARM EL SHEIK which has low single supplements!

I was going to suggest egypt as well- seen people have also suggested it!
I have travelled on my own loads - and have been to cuba, Dominican republic, Venezuela , Japan Belize & Mexico.
Just grabbed a lonely planet, got a cheap flight ( usually a last minute charter) and hit a hostel and found some peeps to go out and get drunk with
You can have superb holidays alone - contrary to popular belief
Ive loved everyone of mine- you can eat/sleep/dive/drink when you like go where you please and dont have any moany mates whinging about things being too dirty/clean/noisy/quiet etc
If you dont like your hostel, move to another town, find one you do like-
youll meet so many fab people on the way.
I recommend using https://www.lonelyplanet.com thier forum is the thorntree. PLenty of moneysaving going on over there as well
they call it shoestringing
Happy travels
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
go to Thailand, you can do all the diving you like there and it's tre cheap, you can choose whatever you like there, be it busy or quiet, you can party at the full moon parties too if that's your scene, you certainly will make friends there0
