I've got a laptop that's running on vista. It used to play DVD's, but no more. Any idea's?

You'll have to be more specific than that.
Does it give an error message? Can you hear the disc spin? Do other discs work (CD/ data discs)?0 -

Insufficient Data. Cannot Compute.0 -
It spins and spins, and says the "programme is not responding". It renders the whole laptop un-usuable so I have to turn the laptop off and re-start it. This is for CD's and DVD's. The DVD's aren't faulty as I've tried them in a DVD plaver.0

The default player software may have changed. My wife's HP laptop had a similar issue, it was trying to use HP's own player, so I changed the default player to Windows Media Player.
This can be done in 'Settings', 'Control Panel', Default Programs', 'Set Your Default Programs' or 'Change Autoplay Settings', and set Windows Media Player as default for all, or for CD and DVD as required.
Good luck.0 -

Thanks but no good. Won't work with either VLC or WMP.0 -
Could be the drive itself, if you happen to have an external USB DVD or CD player does that work?
Depending on what laptop it is, it may be an easy and cheap replacement.0 -
