I'm in a quandry.
I'm looking for a diesel to cut the cost of my commute.
My budget is around £5k, but obviously the less spent the better.
I'm a SAAB driver at the mo (10 years old and going strong) so my ideal choice would be a diesel one of those (9-3 old shape).
The other choices are a Rover 75 or an Alfa Romeo 156, mainly because the depreciation from new has been pretty dramatic and it looks like I could pick up quite of lot of car for my budget.
Anyone have any experience with the Rover or the Alfa?
I know from experience the SAAB will gt me to work and back every day without fail, but what about the other two. Apparently the Alfa's are a lot better these days.
I just want everyday experiences if possible.
Or should I go and ask at some petrolhead forum????
Many Thanks

I doubt it will be of much help (too small) but the Fiat Panda 1.3 multijet at around £5,995 new with VED of £45 per year (or is it £35), is worth considering.
Great fun wee cars and if you go to the honest john web site you should be able to find some pointers to great deals. I bought one (not multijet) for my daughter and drove it for a month and it is a craking drive.0 -

Try the forum on https://www.pistonheads.com they get these queries all the time.0

Thanks for the replies.
I've talked myself out of the Alfa and deep down I know I want to stick with the SAAB.0
