What's difficult to understand? I have two dogs, one male and one female. It's the female i.e. the girl who barked. Given the actual name for a female dog is not allowed on here I chose to call her a girl instead.

Please make sure you ask about giving treats before you do so. I know that certain treats upset my dogs tummy and would be mortified if i found out someone was feeding him

My neighbours dog barks quite often but I just ignore it as im sure mine must bark when im not about also. My DD used to be terrified about coming up the path but i turned it into a joke and now she just says "ooooo doggy do be quiet" and carries on - although the dog is at the window rather than the garden

I female dog is generally called a bitch.

Well, I had a word with them, as was suggested by a couple of contributors, and they turned out to be keen to sort out the problem.

So, thanks to those who gave that good advice, thanks also to others who gave alternative but similarly sensible suggestions, and a big WUFF WUFF to those who used this thread as an opportunity to talk absolute ballcocks.
