I have just paid my holiday at the travel agent using my credit card, charged an extra 2.5% because they say its their banks policy. I was under the impression that these unfair charges were no longer applicable, can anyone advise?

Why do you suppose they are unfair?
They are allowed if that's what it costs the travel agent.0 -

Why the difference in charge from debit to credit? 20p for debit and 2% for credit. Am I missing something?0

Merchants are usually charged a fixed fee for a debit card transaction, but a % for credit cards. This is now capped a 2.5% and merchants Los he ability to charge more - it will now not be a cash cow, simply a maximum can be charged t the customer.0
