Money owed from being laid off/redudant

Options
Hi all

I could do with some advice about this but first some background.

In December 2012 i was laid off for a period of 1 month, during this time i claimed JSA but obviously did not get paid for public holidays which work apparently should have paid for me but did not. I also did not receive my Guarantee Pay payment for the first week despite asking for this in writing from my employer. They also phoned the JobCentre to tell them that they would not be paying me this payment either.

Before my return to work in January 2013 i was told that i would not been taken back on and that my employment would be terminated. At this time i had been employed by the company for 2 years, i had also not taken all of my holiday entitlement, still not received my guarantee pay and did not get my 4 weeks notice as specified in my contract. In total this worked out to approximately 8 weeks of full pay.

I have yet to receive any money from the company and i know that they are still struggling financially so i have been reluctant to press for that money. I am thinking that the only way to recover that money may be using the legal process.

I am wondering if anyone would be able to offer advice about how i should go about getting the money that i am owed, either in a lump sum (full or reduced) or on a rolling basis. Would i need to go to an employment tribunal or would a county court be better at this stage?

Never be afraid to press for monies owed. It is not your problem they are in financial difficulties, it's theirs.

The cropping of the subject on the front page is a little unfortunate.

Im guessing it crops after laid then lol which is rather unfortuante yes.

I still haven't decided whether to press them for the money owed because i don't want to cost people their jobs as i think it would probably make things very difficult for them so that they would lay people off.
