My son got a 21 year old National Savings bond when born which is maturing next month. It was for £1000. Can anyone hazard a guess as to the value at maturity?
Thanks

What is the exact wording on the bond? Premium Bond? Income Bond? Growth bond? etc.

As said, it depends on the bond, if it was a Childrens Bond, with interest, it will depend on the interest rate that was provided, it likes at something like 2.25% now. If it is a Premium Bond, he may have won some prizes in the draw, but I doubt it is that, because there must have been some correspondence with parents, if he had got something.A teenager, and a budding journalist on aviation and finance. :money:

Thanks, it was a National Savings children's bond. It was taken out for £1000 21 years ago and is due to mature next month. Any ideas on the value?
Many thanks0 -
Why not do as bugbyte suggested and give NS&I a call? That will give you a more reliable answer than any that you will get here.0

My memory of these is that the bond matured every five years and then you could choose to roll over into the bond rate set for the next five years? Check your records?0 -

I agree with xylophone. A new rollover bond would have been issued to the responsible adult every 5 years until the child is 16 and IIRC that new bond would have shown the maturity value.
After the age of 16, the child has control of the bond and can cash it in. Perhaps he already has!
NS&I website seems to suggest they send annual statements now, although they didn't when my kids had CBBs. Surely the OP must have some paperwork somewhere?
On the other hand perhaps the OP already knows what it's worth and just wants us to guess how much for amusement. In that case my guess would be around £2700. Anybody else care to guess. We could have a sweepstake.;)0 -
