Hi all,
Not sure if this is the right forum but just needed to ask a question
I went into a Texaco Petrol station this morning and when paying asked for a VAT receipt. When I looked at it just now it had my full card number and expiry date on it. Is there anything that says they should only show the last four digits. I seem to remember something ages ago but this is the first time I have seen this for years.
I have no intention of throwing the receipt away but i have to use them for my expenses and I am not sure how my company disposes of them
Thanks

What I've done in this sort of case is cut out the CC number with a pair of scissors - it's never been questioned.
I don't think there's any legal basis for showing/not showing the full number - the latter has become the custom in recent years though.0 -
Have a look at:
http://www.visa.ca/en/merchant/pdfs/mtk_truncation.pdf
and
http://www.mastercard.com/us/wce/PDF/10071_MasterCard_Merchant_Rules.pdf
under PAN truncation.

I would blank out the middle digits with a black pen. However, the number on its own is no good to anyone..0

find out who they use for there merchant services and then give there Merchant Risk department a call.0

its crazy, I know. I had it done a number of times to me before. All they need are the three digits in the back! to cream you outta your winnings.Save saynoto0870.com in your favorites, and stop giving companies more £££ dialling 0870 numbers when you can dial freephones or cheaper alternatives
call your credit card company, tell them that you want to leave, 99% of the time theyll lower your APR%
Remember when that Bank Manager or Salesperson smiles at you, all he sees is £ notes. Dont forget the motto, "the wider their grin, the more debt your in"0 -
If this bothers/worries you, use cash. You can still obtain a receipt for expenses.
I suspect a lot of people, myself included, do this after the recent reports of card fraud linked to petrol sales.0
