Claiming JSA but turnt down job trial
Comments

It very much depends on your realistic prospects. If you have decent work experience and therefore a genuine chance of getting a job soon, and that apprenticeship has nothing to do with your experience or what you want to do, I could see your point (although JSA are very unlikely to). However, if you have little work experience, have been unemployed for many months, limited education etc... then you can't be picky and an apprenticeship is exactly what you need to grab even if you lose out financially. You need to look at the future and if it means losing out for a year for better work prospect for the next 40 years, then I think the decision is clear!0

Surely its better than being on JSA ?0 -
"An admin apprenticeship is not unskilled! You work towards a VQ which is equivalent to an HNC at college. You are expected to develop a lot of skills including advanced ICT and Customer Services. To get the same qualification and experience at college, you would maybe get a bursary for your fees, and would have to find another source of income to live on."Only if you are lucky enough to get a level 4 apprenticeship. The vast majority of admin apprenticeships are at a far lower level and will result in a vocational qualification and GCSE or A Level equivalent.
That said, I would still take the job if I were the OP.
Yes, most are at level 2 leading to level 3. The point still stands that the skills, experience and qualifications are not a waste of time. We both provide the training and employ people as Business Admin apprentices and they move up the ladder much quicker (here or moving on) than if they had not done the apprenticeship.0
