to make a copy from a copyrighted CD? I have one out from the library - its a relaxation one and have tried to make a copy only for my own personal use and it is not allowing me to do it. Is there any way I can get round this?

It is generally accepted that you can make one copy for you own personal use of material that you own-not of stuff borrowed from the library!
Would you consider it acceptable to photocopy a whole library book? There's no difference. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Yes, it is possible. Is it acceptable to share this on MSE? No, not really0

But not in law, alas... (Are they ever going to change that?!)
The only way you can rip a copyrighted CD is with the copyright holder's permission.0 -
A thought occurs, buy a copy.

everytime theres new security, theres software made to get passed it, people used to sell counterfeit cds and dvds at markets and computer fairs, the trading standards would just take their stock and they would be back the following week, its no wonder people think nothing of copyright , people have always copied stuff even as far back as hand written books, look at this, not even natures exempt ,
