quick selling options

My husband has been headhunted and we are being given some financial assistance with the move, but...I need some advice on the best options for a quick sale. In the space of 3 days, all I've really done is clean and paint the entire house in anticipation of selling.
We own the house outright, so there is no financial entanglement, there, but we cannot guarantee a sale and need to move within a timescale of 1 month (at the earliest) and 4 months.
Out of sheer panic, we have already seen one of the 'we buy any house' companies and they would be the LAST resort. Honestly, it was like being told 'we will rob you blind or we will entangle you in a financial scheme.'
Before starting the round of estate agents, this afternoon, does anybody have any advice? We may need a mortgage at the other end of the move, would our bank buy our current property from us as part of the deal (or is that just me hoping against hope?).
Basically, any advice would be welcome as I need to be as armed as possible in the days ahead.
Thanks

Do NOT use one of those property buying companies - not even as a last resort.
The bank aren't going to buy your house.
Its all about price. Price the house right and it will sell.
Expect too much and it won't.
Consider going the property auction route0 -
Make the property looks light and airy... Don't leave too many things on the kitchen work top.... If you have pets, make sure you vaccum just before the viewing and make the place smell goodThere is more to life than increasing its speed.0

If your husband has been headhunted, he's surely canny enough to know that every house has a price at which it will sell quickly, and that doesn't need to be the awful deal a "We Buy Any House" company would give you.
But what's wrong with renting at the other end for a while? It would give you the breathing space to sell and experience in the new area. Decisions made in haste & all that.0 -
Definitely don't use the 'we buy any house' companies. It is possible to sell quickly without resorting to those shysters if you are prepared to price your house realistically......
Two years ago we wanted/needed to sell quickly - we absolutely hated the area we'd moved to three years previously & needed to relocate closer to ailing parents - and we managed to do the whole thing, from putting the house on the market to completion within less than three months, even though properties were taking years to sell in our location
We priced realistically, it went live on Right Move at the beginning of March, we accepted an offer two weeks later, found a house to buy mid April and completed on sale/purchase during the third week in May!
Btw, this was a long-distance move (200 miles), we were selling (and buying) very unusual properties and our circumstances (too much stuff, including several pets and a hot tub that was moving with us) meant renting wasn't an option
Good luck with it all - price correctly your house should sell quickly!Mortgage-free for fourteen years!
Over £40,000 mis-sold PPI reclaimed0 -
Get your house valued by several estate agents, then go lower than the lowest price. Tell the estate agent you need to sell quick. They will jump at the chance of quick commission0
