Online purchases Rights

I ordered an Epson printer from Amazon which was delivered on Thursday
This is the 3rd Epson I have bought. I ordered XP405 and while handling it and trying to set it up find that it is very flimsy It us light but even plugging in the cable at the back comes out very easily.
I am wondering if I could ask them to return this one and order another I have seen the XP605 This printer is more expensive but in my opinion more durable,
Obviously I have all the packaging and other than putting the inks in it is just as delivered.
I didn;t realise how flimsy until I was inserting paper lifting up the scanner and to also access to putting in the ink etc. I know that things can be returned but not sure if the printer would fall into this category
Any information and advice would be appreciated

Many thanks

Sue

Theres no reason i can think of that a printer would be excluded.

Was it from amazon themselves or a marketplace seller?

Even though Amazon should refund you in full if you return under the Distance selling regulations, you may well have to pay the return postage costs.

It is usually a requirement that ink cartridges are removed when sending printers (in case they leak), and Amazon may expect you to pay for these.
Although they shouldn't deduct the cost of them from the refund, they do have the legal right to pursue you for the cost of these although I doubt if it would be worth their while doing so.

Amazon themselves are usually pretty good when it comes to returns, I wouldn't envisage any issues with them, just follow their standard returns process.

Amazon are super for returns, so I can't envisage you having any problems if you inform them promptly. When you replace, though, I would steer clear of Epson as they all seem to be an inferior build quality of late. I've just replaced my Epson with a HP Deskjet 3055A - similar price but far superior in my opinion, much more sturdy and durable.

I have spoken to Amazon. They will send me an email with the instructions of how to return it.
The person I spoke was most helpful and she said the printer will be picked up from my address.
Now I need to rethink which one to reorder.
Thanks again for the advice. I am a woman and a SILVER surfer and the advice I get from these forums are fantastic!!!
Big thanks to all who have responded to my posts.

What sort of thing are you using the printer for - photos or documents?

HP are very good for document printing but I've always found Canon to be better for photos.

I only bought Epson as this was the first and second printer I bought
I use the printer for typing letters some documents I want to print off like passport
Booking or ordering things I print off the email and also the order when I have completed the booking or flight etc etc. The SX415 was not good for photo's They always were dark and too strong on colour etc so useless for that.
I want a wireless as I can then use it easily from my laptop
The SX415 was pretty sturdy and much heavier and feels much more substantial
I was also looking at the Epson SP 605 but now I may rethink the situation as I only looked at Epson

Thanks you so much for all the responses I do appreciate it

I received the email from Amazon last evenng. I was considering the XP605 but wanted to have a look at as a consequence of the 405 I wemt to PC world and the 605 is much more to my liking.
As it was the same price as it was on Amazon I just bought it from them. It is £20 more than the 405 but I am happy to pay this. The refund will take a couple of weeks but again this is not a problem for me. Thanks for all the advice
