direct train from liverpool to blackpool

Hi , just a quick query.

I am travelling from liverpool south parkway train station to blackpool north station on 15th july.

When I used the trainline.com to price the tickets just a few weeks ago there was a direct train running between the 2 stations which was great!

Now however when I look at the trainline website it isnt showing a direct train and I have to make 2 changes , 1 at Liverpool central and 1 at Ormskirk.

Does anyone know why this direct train isnt running? It seems to only be unavailable for a 1 week period between 12th and 19th july.

Any suggestions as to why this is?

Thanks.

This says there is engineering work that makes it quite difficult to get from Liverpool to Blackpool that week.

Really? The trainline site says you save up to 43% by buying your tickets from them?

Who should I buy them from then? Any recommendations?

    Thanks

The trainline needs to pay for all these pricey TV ads. You can save more using the train companies websites, as often you get more discount their own tickets.. The two that I use most often are East Coast and the Southern Railway. In your case it would be Northern and Virgin. When booking my tickets to London from the Fens, it is possible to save up to 65% off the full fare.Which you can not get from the trainline.

And they sometimes sell tickets that aren't valid for the train you've booked.

Had that happen to me once and they just said "should have checked the T+Cs".

If I book and pay for the 3.45 to Newcastle I expect the ticket that arrives to be valid on the 3.45 to Newcastle ;-)

As others have said, go direct.

Surely it would be more expensive to purchase the tickets on the day at the station?
