Mortgage on house - 2 Kitchens?

Hello,
I have a little quandry at present... I have had an offer accepted on a property however when I have been in contact with the mortgage broker I have been informed that because the house has 2 kitchens it is basically un-mortgageable?
The house was initially 3 homes (2x side by side terrace) and 1x under dwelling. The under dwelling area is where the second kitchen is - its accesable via the back door (only door leading to the garden) or through stairs in the main home.
Are Halifax as a mortgage provider likely to overlook the second kitchen? Or am I going to need to insist that the buyer dismantles the kitchen on the lower ground floor?

Never heard this. I guess I'll have tolook for cash buyers too.
Yeah - define 'kitchen'. Take out cooker.0 -
We had exactly the same problem when buying our current property. Surveyor for Nationwide said it was unmortgagable because of two kitchens - irony was not one was functional- no fitted units - just electrics with the potential to be a cooker point and a sink in each.
In our experience, the real issue or worry for the lender was the potential for subdivision/subletting and the suitability of a residential mortgage over a commercial one. I guess this may well be the same in your case from the way you describe the property.
We fought with the nationwide on this issue and they wouldn't budge until we took the fight to the Ceo's office who sent out their own surveyor and agreed to lend on condition we 'removed' one of the kitchens when we moved in and on condition that it was our only residence. It was a fight which was extremly stressful at the time and we wouldn't have bothered if the house wasn't as close to our dream home as we could get on our budget.0
