This is a view point, everyone views business differently, and whether to transact withi someone is normally a combination of factors including price, service levels, wider customer feedback etc
I closed my capital one account after non payment of topcashback credit, had they offered it then I might have retained it after repeated queries, however this is in a sense the reverse of what the OP has stated.0 -
Yes they are giving away money. I left BC end of April they offered me to lower my APR, £50 credit and 0% balance transfer for 18 months!!! The £50 offer was quite shocking though.
They said i can spend the money on whatever I want and I can leave if I change my mind. Anyway it didn't work for me...0 -
I've been given big credits by Barclaycard too - I'd applied for the cashback card, and because of what they told me when I enquired over the phone, I decided to cancel. They gave me money to keep me. Once the card became active and I started to use it, it worked exactly how I wanted it to in the first place, against what they'd said - so I wound up with what I wanted plus a three figure sum thanks to their own poor product knowledge!0

Not the case at John Lewis credit card. Got so angry with their service that I said fine I'm cancelling. Guess how they keep customers? Girl told me no I couldn't cancel (need to phone a different number or something).0

Barclaycard gave me £20 as a god will gesture. They sent me a letter saying they were going to double my credit limit in a months time. When they date came, it never increased. I waited a few more days and still no increase. So i call up asking what's going on and they basically said they changed their mind! But of course they weren't going to tell me this... i felt like they had treated me badly and after a long conversation, the CS advisor offered me the £20 as a good-will gesture.Aiming to pay off £50,312.94 in less than 3 years - Starting from December 2015
