EDF Messed up dual fuel payments !!!
Hi there signed up for dual fuel price promise in December all was good apart from edf missing 3 meter appointments and wasted time off work but eventually got there. I set up my direct debits and had the confirmation letters of the amounts i had to pay for Gas and Electricity and thought everything was hunky dory. anyway to my surprise a couple of days ago I had a bill through my door for £650 for gas, unclear of what was going on i called edf and they looked into it for me and turns out they made a huge mistake their end and all dd payments were for electric not gas and no payments were coming off my gas bill even though I had it all in writing but thats not all i was signed up for price promise on electric but not for gas even though I had dual fuel discount (confusing in it) they have admitted liability and since applying the PP on gas it reduced to £550ish I am fuming through there mistake I am now £550 in debt to them. They have said i can pay it back in any way I can afford but thats not the point through there incompetence I have to shell out more money each month when times are hard enough as it is what should i do ? (I am also £250 in credit Electric)

OK so it sounds like you owe them £300 in total. Ask them how they're going to make up for messing your tariff up, you should get some compensation for that ("good will gesture"). After that it looks like you're being given a lot of freedom with regards to paying the rest of it back, so take advantage of that and simply ask them to add on a bit to your (now combined) direct debit so you pay it off in 12 months or whatever you choose.0

When you join EDF, they tell you what you are paying monthly by DD individually for gas & electric ... although collection is just one total amount.
Why did EDF have to come and read your meter?
If you have dual fuel, you should be getting one combined bill (which will specify gas & electric consumption separately)
Your initial monthly DD payments are based on the cost of what you advised your anticipated annual usage will be - they then charge 1/12th of that per month. If you are now £250 in credit on your electric (and you supplied a recent meter reading) then you must have got your annual consumption figures way out. (which can result in you having opted for the wrong supplier/tariff
