How to sell my car - German Registered

I have recently moved to the UK and brought my left hand drive Audi A3 (1999). As I will now be living here permanently I want to buy a right hand drive car.

My plan was to drive my A3 back to Germany (was planning on visiting anyway) and sell it there, as there's a better chance of getting more money for it. The problem is that the clutch is now slipping and I have been quoted £500 for a new clutch, which isn't worth paying as I'm sure the car isn't worth much compared. I am unwilling to now drive it back to Germany in case it breaks down, amongst other reasons.

So basically I want to try and sell the car here if possible. I should also mention that the car is not registered in the UK, but has German insurance and the German equivalent of an MOT. The car is registered in my Dad's name but I'm listed on the insurance as a driver.

The car is drive-able and really only has the clutch issue.

What do you think the best way to sell it would be? Scrapping it, sell it to someone who wants it for parts etc?

Any advice would be great - Thanks

Stick it on eBay or try to sell it in France instead? They're LHD too.

I think you'll have difficulty selling it when its still registered in Germany to someone else. Ideally you should re register it over here first, but is it really worth it?

As long as your honest about all of the above someone will probably buy it but the German registration will mean you'll get less for it I would think.

youll also have to swap your driving license for a uk one.

and over here being a named driver on someone policy and the vehicle registered to someone else other than main driver and policy holder and then being the named driver being the main driver is called fronting, i dont know about how insurers over there allow things like these but here in the event of an accident you could find yourself in trouble for fraud and lose allot of money and be liable for insurers costs and any subsequent claims from the insurer and the third party.

don do that with your next policy will you?

like others have said there is a very minimal market for LHD non uk reg cars here, the car isnt worth much more than what the clutch is worth replacing in its current status over here.

I wouldn't be so quick to insult others and call them clueless seeing as you yourself have posted incorrect info.

If you got your EU licence by exchanging your non-EU licence, you can drive in Great Britain for only 12 months.

I realise that, but as the OP didn't make any mention of how they obtained their German issued licence, I just thought that it might be a good idea if people got their facts straight before insulting others.
