    DWBID hope your ok.

Have a look on my SOA which people on here have helpfully picked at and see if there's anything you ve missed off. Someone told me yesterday that I was allowed to put £40 a month for holidays!! Very surprising.

    Hi DWBID

I would agree with the others that you would be allowed your Gas & Electric. I was allowed £110 for my daughter and myself. you should be allowed your internet costs as you can argue that you need it for educational purposes. I would suggest addingsomething for hairdressing, guidelines are £10 per month for yourself & £3 per child although I was allowed £18 for my daughter and myself (which is the actual cost). How old are your children? You may be able to include £10 per child pocket money.

try having a look at this thread as various peopple have posted what they were allowed in their SOA's

I don't understand how they can say that the actual cost of your basic utilities isn't allowed!

    I could be wrong but:

The OR's have a wonderful document called the 'Family Expenditure Survey' which gives them details of the average domestic spending according to your location and circumstances.

I suspect the OR, for whatever reason, has decided to stick to a figure in this despite it not fitting the real circumstances.

  • I'm back!!

feeling a little better after reading these posts,
I have learnt a few things that I can add onto my SOA and so I will put some sort of appeal in, I am going to send them my utility bills to prove that they are more than £50.

  • hi dontwannabeindebt you may have more ammo than that can i ask question as to how the Student bursary is supplied for and what it is made up off, if there are different elemants

The bursary is given by the NHS while you do your training, every student (on the diploma course) gets the basic which I think is aroud £550, then as a lone parent/mature student I get an extra £250, so that £800 a month.

It isn't means tested. I guess it is given towards living expenses, it probably explains here but I've never checked, https://www.nhsstudentgrants.co.uk I will have read around and let you know if I can tell you anything else about it.

Just out of interest DWBID, what's the next move? Do you have to wait for some confirmation from the OR about the SoA and IPA and then appeal, or can you resubmit a revised SoA immediately?
