ICEsave Vs. ICICI

Hi all,
I've just filled my ISA up for this year and now have £3k to save. Definately want an account I can manage online and from scanning the site its appears Ice (5.95%) and ICICI (6.05%) are clearly the best two options.
However, from my research it appears a few people have had trouble with ICICI in the past. Can those who have had problems explain alittle more about what happened? If it was enough of a misery to choose ICEsave instead.
I know the difference between the accounts is very little but every penny counts! Saving towards my first house so will be saving £600 a month into whichever account I open. Have considered the Birmingham Midshire Direct saver at (5.70%). Not considering fixed term savings as hope to use the money within 12 months to lay down a deposit.
If anyone has had problems with ICE obviously I'd appreciate hearing from you too.
Finally, anyone heard any murmours about when other banks may up their rates to go with the interest rate hike? Would hate to open an account this week just to find another bank puts their rates up to 6.1% or more few days later.
Many thanks.

Tried opening ICICI bank 3 weeks ago. Still awaiting password even after phoning them.
There are many ICICI v Icesave threads. I would just recommend opening both.
Have you considered a regular savings account?0 -
I have had no dealings with ICICI, but Icesave have been very good - quick, efficient, communicative and courteous.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them, based solely on my experience of course!Mortgage at outset (May 2004): £80,000
Mortgage now (October 2007): £58,000
Original mortgage-free date: May 2024
Expected mortgage-free date: December 2014
Projected interest saving: £21,1000 -
I have both accounts, and both have been excellent.
I actually recommended Icesave to my Mum though, just because it seemed more people had problems with ICICI than Icesave on this forum. Additionally, the guarantee is a bit better on icesaveBy 'eck it gets complicated
But nay fret, Martin's here to save us :money: :T0
