Poor car insurance repair

My car was in the crash repair place for 4 weeks having a new rear door, bumper and back panel fitted. All looked good on collection. Rained next day and water flooded in door! Worked out no membrane in door to stop rain coming in. Told insurer and repair place and they agreed to fix...repair place even said we know exactly what wrong.

Collected after they had car for a day. Checked and still no membrane, they said fitted as that what they been doing all day.

Insurer sent out Engineer who agreed not there and accepted they had damaged inside of door whilst making repair!

They now insisting it goes back to same repairer....can I ask for it to be done by someone else who doesn't damage it further or lie to me? I would like to use the garage who have service my car for 10+ years and know job done properly.

Thanks for any advice

It's a shame you didn't insist on using your own choice of repairer in the first place.

Now this other garage has done the job, then they do need the opportunity to put it right, however a good moan to the right person at your insurer pointing out they (the garage) lied to you over their first attempt to repair it, and how you feel the insurer is responsible too as they recommend the garage might get you the rsult you want.

they have 3 chances, wasnts howard basford by any chance?
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

Is it your insurer or the other party's?

Other side liable and admitted already. My insurers repairer. They have had one chance to put right, after initial repair, and like I said lied and did more damage.

Spoke to CAB and they said would be deemed unreasonable to insist it goes back to one who lied and damaged, but ultimately insurer decides! Said could refuse and go to Fin. Ombudsman as they likely deem unreasonable too and that results in being upheld. Think like above complain some more and point out again not happy.

All a lot of hassle for a repairer who didn't put something simple right!

In that case, I recommend you write and complain to the insurer that their agent has failed to do the work properly and that you have no confidence in their ability to do the job properly.

In the circumstances, I would say that you want the original repair redone AND the damage and the damage the insurer's agent (i.e. their repairer) has done to your car repaired by a manufacturer authorised repairer, NOT another bunch of cowboys they appoint, the insurer's expense and, since the car will be unavailable to you again entirely as a result of their incompetence, you expect them to provide a courtesy car at their expense as well.

If you have a fax available use that. Otherwise, first class post with proof of posting (free from the Post Office).
