In the past, the energy companies have said that the cost of gas/leccy follows the trend in oil prices.
Well BG, EDF and everybody else, have you seen how much petrol (oil) prices have dropped in the past 2 to 3 weeks??
I can imagine their response. 'No, sorry, we cant drop our prices. We are going to invest in some other Dead Donkey scheme that wont work, so there'!!!!

Didn't you get the memo? Apparently the theory as to the price of Gas being linked to the price of Oil only applies when the price of oil is rising.

Last time there was a price drop due to wholesale prices, it was ~5%, which didn't even make up for the 15-20% increase from a a few months before that.
It's criminal, really.0 -

Shows them at an all-time high over the past couple of months - apart from a one week spike in Feb 2012.
From Jan-Now - prices in 2011 averaged about 57p, rising to 62p in 2012, and 78 now.
Oil and gas prices have historically tracked.
This doesn't mean that they will do so forever.0
