help with washing machine !

My washing machine is not draining properly   :o

I washed a door mat in it this morning

it IS machine washable and ive washed it many time BUT its only supposed to be washed @ 40 degrees max

i put it on 60 by accident ! :o

so the rubbery stuff on the back all came away and now theres bits left in the drum and a lovely pool of water inside the drum that wont drain away !

ive tried putting it on empty a few times with white vinegar in to shift the blockage, thsat didnt work :( i havent got any soda crystals left at the moment

is there anything else i can try / buy ?

Possibly some of the stuff from it stuck in the pipes, might be a case of taking pipes off and flushing through. I wouldn't put something down it to disolve the rubber as that will no doubt damage the pipes.

I us this site for anything washing machine related http://www.washerhelp.co.uk/

If he tried again get a few buckets, also I would tackle it first thing on a day time morning, evening/night time call out plumbers are very expensive if anything goes wrong!!

there is a filter bit on most washing machines that you can remove and clean out -it's designed to catch things before they go down the pipes, you might want to investigate a bit....mine is on the back of my machine behind a little flap but I think they can be on the front too. My machine wouldnt drain and thats when I discovered the filter (and 5 years worth of fluff!!!!)

Oh yes the filter, mine overflows out of the front when blocked so didn't think of that, mines under the door, think depends on make etc.

we looked for the filter ,couldnt locate it ?

but according to that link you posted above, some modern machines dont have filters that are customer accessible :(

even though the machine is 5 yrs old,it looks like new and has been fine up til now :(

hubby says we should just get a new one ,as parts and labour would cost as much ?!

you might just need to unscrew the back panel to find it - gotta be worth a go...

    Hi Rachie,

    Try this website: www.washerhelp.co.uk

There are a couple of people on the In My Home board who know a lot about washing machines and may be able to help so I'll move your thread over there in the morning.
