Make A Complaint To The F.o.

Since 6th April 2007, any complaint made by a customer about a business will incur a case fee. This fee is £400 and is payable by the business that the complaint is about. This is regardless of the outcome of the complaint. There is no cost to the consumer, so get your complaints in at http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.u...complaints.htm

Maybe the banks will start to sit up an take notice if we hit them in the pocket!

Truncated hyperlinks don't work. However, in this case, this is probably just as well, as this isn't as easy as you intimate.

Neither is it good advice to be honest.

The FO has always charged financial institutions (it was £350) if they receive a complaint that they have to follow through apart from something like the first four.

However, the Financial Ombudsman is a very good resource for reclaiming bank charges especially for people who don't wish to go down the court route or are claiming large amounts from NI and Scotland.

Merely reporting the banks because you aren't happy with them puts undue pressure on the FO resources and hence holds up the genuine complaints.

And for those who (sometimes due to the banks actions) can't afford the court fees and aren't eligible for help with these.

Good, sound advice...thank you. I wasn't sure where to turn as the law in Scotland is different and we can't use MCOL.

I experienced the usual delaying tactics from LTSB: They denied receiving the first letter and I sent another by recorded delivery. Within two weeks I received a list of dates of chatges but not amounts. They also fell six months short of the six years and said I could have them but it will take longer. Why??? I have no idea.

So, I tallied up what I think is the total and they received the claim for £2300 on Friday 18th May. I will claim for the remaining six months when I get the information I need.

Just a waiting game now but I am more determined than ever because they lied....
