Pending Transaction Help

Hi Guys,

I recently stayed in an Appart Hotel which asked for a Credit Card incase of any damage caused during my stay.

The only Credit Card i had was my Capital One Visa with a tiny limit.

Staying on my own, I was 100% confident that i wouldn't be causing any damage so thought it was more than safe to give them my Capital One card.

I left the hotel the following morning with no issues, and when i looked on my Capital One account online there was a pending transaction for £100. That £100 would take me over my card limit.

The pending transaction then dropped off my account before any money was taken.

I was curious to know, will that effect my credit rating?

Will Capital One see that as a negative?

This is an authorisation hold and is pretty normal when you stay at hotels or rent cars etc..

...so long as the hold doesn't turn into an ACTUAL transaction then it will have no effect on you whatsoever regarding your credit file etc.

The only downside is that for upto a week you cannot use that £100..

Nah. If you'd thought the money would be taken, you could have paid some in to cover it. But they can't fault you for not doing that when there wasn't any need.
