Connecting second computer to BT voyager 210 router

Please can somebody help me with this. I am currently using Dell dimensions 5150 window XP and it is connected to bt voyager 210 router for broadband using ethernet connection. I have still got my old windows 98 SE, and I want to use it for back up in case this one plays up. I would like to know how do I connect the second computer to my existing broadband. I have read the instructions, I could insert the installation CD, but the old computer does not have an ethernet so I have to connect using USB. I want to know whether I could still leave the ethernet connection on the router and then connect the old computer using usb connection. Is that possible, please, also I would like to remove the usb cable after I have installed bt broadband on the old computer? Do I understand I just have to remove the usb cable from the router if I manage to connect old computer. I have been trying to remove the ethernet cable, it seems quite hard to remove. It's possible I find it difficult to remove as I have got a bit of arthritis in my rt hand.

Basically what I want to do is to connect second computer using usb connection and afterwards remove the usb cable as will only use the computer for back up. Does this make sense to anybody? Just wondering can you use two computers, but same router. Thanks

Probably easier just to fit a wireless card.

as far as i know the Voyager isn't wireless (well my dads wasn't) so fitting a wireless card won't work.

You can pick up ethernet cards cheap, a couple of quid and they're very easy to fit.. back off the pc, plug it in, lid back on the pc, switch pc on and insert disk if asked.

As far as i know you can run both either net and USB together, i don't think they disable one another when connected.

You also won't need to install BT broadband on the old computer. The line is DSL active, the username and password should be stored in the router and once the pc connects to the router it connects to the internet.
Although it is BT and they do like to do things differently.
