Caz, thank you for sharing your pictures, I hadn't even thought I can use glass bowls! I shall be raiding my mum's cupboards next time I'm home...

Just thought I'd mention, I got my bags from Amazon a couple of weeks back. £1.50 for 100 striped bags, or they were slightly more expensive for 100 bags of mixed colours. I'm still on the hunt for some cheap metal scoops!

Actually, Caz, do you know what size (in oz) your scoops were..? I've seen loads of different sizes on Amazon but I have literally no idea how big they are or what size I need!

I got plastic bowls from wilkinsons rather than jars cos i thought the neck might be too small for the scoops, and i got white bags with silver snowflakes for my christmas wedding theme, im going to get a white manzanita tree and hang candy canes off it, got my scoops and tong in clear plastic off ebay, going to decorate with snowflake ribbon. I might even have a couple of cuddly polar bears on the table as well.!

    I'm probably having -

    Lovehearts
    cola bottles
    foam bananas
    candy sticks
    white choc mice
white and pink choc ice creams
    liquorice whirls
    haribo mini teddies
    toffee in chocolate
    bonbons

I'm not having sucky sweets cos we don't like them.! and i cannot stand the smell of pear drops so we're not having them.

REGARDING NUTS - I would have a designated "nut scoop" just for the M&Ms, keep them in a sealable jar, and make it VERY clear there can be no cross-contamination.

I've got a nut allergy, and nearly ended up in hospital after I ate food someone handed me after they'd eaten nuts.

    Be exceptionally careful :)

I like the thought of sweets to match the wedding colours, but when i had a look at the pics online, i thought they looked a bit boring and samey, so i'm going for all different coloured sweets.

Yeah I thought about that, but we're having a small wedding so would only need about 6-8 different ones
  • We had the haribo hearts, haribo frogs (kiss the frog!), bubblegum bottles (my absolute favourite), love hearts, lips, and a few other 'fillers' that were smaller and cheaper to buy in bulk.
  • Hi all
    Just an update on what sweets I used at sisters wedding last week & what was popular & what wasn't;
    Marshmallows - V popular
    Haribo Jellies - V popular
    Peanut M&Ms - V popular
    Skittles - V popular
    Mint Humbugs - Ok
    Toffees - Not popular
    Liquorice Allsorts - Not popular
    Chocolate Limes - Ok
    Clear Fruits - Ok
Gold/Silver Chocolate Coins - Very popular
    Dolly Mixtures - V popular
    Midget Gems - V popular
Mamo Chew Sticks - Went down a storm
Fruit Salad & Black Jacks - Went down a storm
    Candy Necklaces/Watches - went down a storm
    Lollipops - Ok

I had tried to incorporate a few old school hard boiled sweets for the older ppl who attended wedding but they were the types of sweets that proved less popular but the rest was a success. If I only knew how to share photos on here I would show you a pic of my candy cart set up. HTH someone.

Thankyou Scousewife, thats really helpful! Not decided whether we will do a sweetie table or not yet but if we do I'll be referring back to your post ;) I will dig out a "how to" post I wrote for someone else about posting pics in a sec!

How much did it cost in total to have a sweet table do you think? And for how many people?
