I am going to Japan for only about five days this month. Until recently, I had nothing wrong with me, however about six months ago, my psa was measured because I had a urinary tract infection. This gave a false very high reading, nevertheless I was referred to a consultant who carried out a series of test and found nothing wrong except for an enlarged prostate which is normal at that age. The psa was then normal. However, a scan showed there might be an abnormailty in one lung, so he suggested I have a full scan of the thorax. This was done quite recently and nothing was found. Having read the conditions of the insurers, it seems that if I reveal all this, the insurance will be voided. However, there is nothing wrong with me. I have no pre-existing illnesses. I am not overweight, I am in good health. Do not drink or smoke. What to do? Is there is point in getting any insurance?

Why do you think your insurance will be voided?
They might charge an extra premium if they think you are high risk.
What is the point of insurance - no point at all if you have deep pockets and can afford a long stay in a foreign hospital with no NHS.

OP, your post isn't clear - do you have insurance at the moment?
If you do, check what the policy says about disclosing medical developments.
If you don't, make sure you answer any medical questions accurately.
In answer to your last point, yes, there is a point in getting insurance as long as you buy it correctly. I wouldn't want to end up in hospital abroad and not have insurance.0 -

Because the conditions say if you can't answer 'no' to all the questions then it will be invalidjonesMUFCforever wrote: »They might charge an extra premium if they think you are high risk.

Haha.
The problem was resolved. I just spoke to them and they agreed that effectively I posed no extra risk.
Thanks anyway0
