New filter for old Candy dishwasher - anyone know where to get one?

We have an old Candy dishwasher which is still working fine (touch wood!) but the filter has started to disintegrate. I've been trying to find out if anyone still sells these, but am having no luck. I think my best hope might be a small spares/repair shop somewhere or something similar, but I'm open to any suggestions about where to find one!
It seems an awful waste of money to have to buy a new dishwasher just for the sake of a plastic filter. Can anyone help please?

ebay? There is a whole section for dishwasher parts. Maybe worth emailing some of the sellers on there who are obviously shops and asking if they can get hold of one. I got a replacement brush for my obscure hoover by doing that :j0

Hopefully this is of some use:
If the Candy filter is like an AEG, Electrolux, Tricity Bendix, Zanussi one then there are some on ebay. If they are not the same, the sellers may be able to get you one if you ask...?"Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect." - Mark Twain0 -

If that's no good, try the other 1,039,999 hits that Google came up with !0 -
Hi Blondheadon,
What model is it?
I was repairing Candy from about 1984/5 to 1997 so I know them well enough.

Give Ken Timms a ring in Scunthorpe on 01724 280729 (or email at sales@timms.biz) - I'm only a customer but this is where I have got spares for the last 20 years for domestic appliances.

Hi Kwatt, it's a TC electronic 5.30 (does that make sense?) That's what is says on the front anyway. Or if you let me know how to find the model number if that is not the right information.
I don't have the manual or anything as it was given to us by my parents who had managed to lose the manual in the few months old before we got it. My mother "took against it" because "doesn't like the though of all that water close to so much electicity" :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: (I kid you not - but the same logic didn't seem to apply to kettles, her washing mahine, the electric shower etc.) Good for us though - we got a free dishwasher!0 -
Wow that's old! That one is from the early eighties and quite a of the spares are totally obsolete and have been for some years now. There's no chance of a manual unless someone happens to have one I'm afraid.
However, being a bit of an old Candy fan I managed to track it down for you. I assume that this is the most central part of the filter which, from memory give I haven't seen one in ten years, locks into the center and holds down the microfilter and the big metal filter plate?
That being the case the part you need is here, it is a special though from Candy so 7-10 day lead time. Hopefully that saves another one from being landfill for a bit.

Many thanks for this Sobraon, I gave Ken Timms a call and he says I need the model number. I can't find this on my own, but will get my OH to pull the dishwasher out tonight so we can look for it. It sounds hopeful though.
I've had a look on Ebay - many thanks to those of you who suggested this - but the Zanussi/AEG ones are a different shape and type. The Candy has a flattish bit of filter mesh, with a cup-shaped bit that fits in. It's the flattish bit of rigid mesh that is breaking up, which is letting bits though and into the spray arms. Does that make sense?0 -

I didn't realise it was that old! It all works fine though and is very quiet, the only problem is the filter.
The screw-in bit of the filter that holds the rest down is okay, so I think it must be what you call the 'micro filter' that is the problem?? I think I might have to go and photograph it and put it on here, if this makes no sense to anyone!0 -
Yeah a photo would help a lot.
