Acer Travelmate 8571 usb problem

Hi

As stated I have an Acer Travelmate 8571 running windows 7.

I've just plugged my USB card reader in and it doesn't seem to open.

The light is on the card reader, it appears in device manager with no problems. But when I go to find it to view the folders on it its not showing in my computer the way my c drive does.

I've uninstalled and re-installed the driver, but still no joy.

Any suggestions of what to try next - I have some photos I want to transfer off my camera sd card

Have you tried another USB port - my Acer wouldn't recognize my portable HDD the other day in one of the ports for some reason?

Mine stopped working in the last week. Pc makes a noise when plugged in but does not appear. My computer> E drive, shows it but asks for a disc to be inserted. It was fine until recently. I use XP. Windows update causing problems?.

Hi

I've tried all four ports on my laptop and no joy - computer alerts me that I am plugging it in or unplugging it - I just cannot view it to open the files on it.

Just tried it in my works pc and its installed the driver but I still can't view it, tried a different usb memory stick in my works pc and that isn't showing up either

Could it be a windows update problem??:mad:

Its only my card reader that isn't working. Just uninstalled and reinstalled it. No change. I may invest £1 in a new one.
