Charging a tenant £120 for Inventory Fee

I am a tenant and have just moved out of my flat after some serious damp issues.
My agency have said I have to pay £120 fee for an Inventory fee.
We've had so many problems etc with this place and when the lady came this morning to do the inventory she had the audacity to ask how many bedrooms it was!!?
The company name is Property Rescue and from the beginning they seem to know nothing about the property.

They seem really unprofessional and I would really like to know if there is anything I can do about this. I'm not happy with £120 being taken off my deposit.

Thanks in advance.

Checkout fee is usually mentioned in the tenancy agreement, I dont know much but I dont think you can dispute it really.

If its not in tenancy agreement and you didn't agree to it I would certainly dispute it.

The advertising standards agency have recently passed a ruling on this whereby fees for lettings should be set out up front... If you weren't told about it and didn't sign up for it why should you pay for it?
  • If it's in the agreement then it's perfectly acceptable, however, the person came in, took a look for about 20 minutes and left. No photos, nothing. Surely, that doesn't warrant £120?

If it is in the agreement that was signed, then they can charge pretty much what they want i imagine.

Bear in mind that it is probably in *your* favour if she does a crap job...

Was she checking against the original inventory?
