I would like to know......
When you line dry clothes is it the fabric softner that you smell or just fresh air?
I love the smell when it's been outside!! I can't get enough of it :rotfl:
I use the yellow comfort and I currently have half a bottle (5l) left, not the concentrated one as I think it's too strong when concentrated.
I just want to know if its worth not bothering when I've finished the bottle?
i think I may do an experiment on a load using softner nd a load with vinegar to see if I can smell and feel the difference?
Has anyone else tried not using it and noticed a difference?

I think you probably do get a more perfumed smell from softener than line drying which is just 'fresh' IYSWIM. Personally I buy a bottle of softener very occasionally if it's on a very good offer but otherwise I'm happy with vinegar. I use the brown stuff not white as it's invariably cheaper and clothes never smell like the chippy!:rotfl:0

Its fresh air you can smell. I don't use fabric softener or vinegar. Haven't done for years and years.
Currently use Aldi's Almat powder and that is it.0 -
I wash the family clothes with Ariel gel and no conditioner. My washing is on the line most of the year and every day. The neighbours comment on it!
My washing just needs to be clean and then dried. I do not need the perfume of a conditioner. The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)0 -
I line dry whenever I can (weather permitting) and never use fabric softener. It's a waste of money in my opinion.0

I use Fairy or Persil non-bio and nothing else. Towels get a capful of white vinegar. I love love love the smell of washing dried outdoors. :heartpuls:Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0

Thanks everyone.
I remembered when I dried it on the river when the weather was pants! You can mell it whilst wet but when it dried I struggled to smell it.
However off the line it smells lovely scrummy n fresh xDs2 born 3/4/12 8lbs 8.5:j

I recently tried using vinegar instead of fabric softener, and although I think the clothes smelt 'fresher' (or rather, less perfumed ...) I have noticed a difference in how they feel. Socks are definitely crisper and tighter! One thing I did notice is that the clothes don't seem to pick up smells as much when they're drying indoors, which is nice.0

I wouldn't use vinegar on clothes to be honest. There's no need.Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0
