It would be a good idea for someone to take all the info to a Citizens Advice Bureau and get the overall situation checked out. They can tell you exactly what benefits etc.My weight loss following Doktor Dahlqvist' Dietary Program

by the way i find the polo shirts at ethel austin better than the asda ones, they're cheaper too. they do white or pale blue i think. they also do trousers but i have to shop around because my son can't manage proper fastenings yet so needs pull up trousers (he's 8 so i'm running out of places to b uy them, but the catalogues go up to his size at the moment.
if you do buy from asda remember you can use grocery vouchers to get up to ten percent off the cost of the shopping, you don't have to buy the product on the voucher. i regularly use coupons sent by huggies, pampers, hipp, organix, etc. when i do my shopping.52% tight0 -
Thanks for the info Ted. However a Community Care Grant is a possibility for other things in this situation, but expert advice is needed to know what to put in for.Torgwen..........

a woman in our area is beinggiven fostering allowances for her brothers 3 children who need to live with her.this may be apossibility for you.The hospital where the mother is being treated should have a social worker who can help you.Every day above ground is a good one

Definitely worth asking about this, although fostering allowances aren't automatically paid if there's a family connection.crutches wrote:a woman in our area is beinggiven fostering allowances for her brothers 3 children who need to live with her.this may be apossibility for you.The hospital where the mother is being treated should have a social worker who can help you.
I don't know if it's area to area, or circumstances. The additional children can also not 'count' in any application for social housing!

The two cases I know of locally are both aunts caring for nephew / niece as well as their own children. If they didn't have the child, a foster placement would be necessary, paid for at great expense by the authority, but apart from getting Child Benefit because the child lives with them, these families get not a penny more. One was in a council house and desperate to move somewhere bigger, but the 'extra' child didn't count because it wasn't a formal placement, even though there were no plans and little possibility for the child to return to the natural parents.
(Before anyone starts, no of course they didn't take these children in for the money, but a little recognition and support from the local authority given that they are saving £000s on foster placements wouldn't go amiss!)
I hope things are better for the OP's family: as indeed they may be because the circumstances are different.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
