Car insurance for new driver

Options
Hi my partner is looking for insurance for our car which is a 1.4 astra, tried moneysupermarket and confused but they still seem really expensive. I know with it being his first year we're bound to pay more, do you know of any companies who specialise in new drivers?

I tried adrian flux which was quite reasonable as well as swinton which wanted £750 for the year.

Any advice would be grateful

Cheers

over 21 and fyi i had already looked and never spotted anything, what is it with people here being so touchy? You can't post anything anymore without someone getting on their high horse!

Well I have just looked and there are several threads in the first 20 pages of this board on this or similar subjects. I would also suggest that if you would like help on this board you are not rude to those people who reply, a bit of courtesy never did any body any harm.

the fact is that in your first year of driving you will be expensive to insure, regardless of age, also you need to consider the area you live and if the vehicle has been modified.

quinn direct are also meant to be cheap for new starters. what do you consider expensive, for example £750 to me seems quite cheap for someone in your OHs position?

Also do you have a license/good claim record? if so putting you on as a named driver may well bring down the premium, or otherwise putting down another female family member could help.

well i was just asking people out there who has recently purchased insurance who was maybe in the same situation as my OH could maybe give advice, for you to come on and say its already been posted when to be honest each persons circumstances is different is quite offensive to me, all you had to do was maybe put up a link or something

so don't tell me that i'm being rude, i have read other posts in other forums and find some people to be a bit OTT to say the least, all im doing is asking for other peoples opinions, not a lecture on reading back 20 PAGES! So in other words get a life! when did you become a Mod?

if you bothered to read to the end of my post you will find a summary of most of the threads - to lower a quote put a named female driver on, and try quinn direct. you have already tried flux, which is another broker known for decent quotes for the inexperienced. also he should consider a pass plus course which could give him the equivalent of a years no claims bonus with some insurers.

you have provided hardly any information about your oh so no one can answer in any more than the most generic terms. hence other generic posts on this subject are just as relevant - and this board is full of them. as you say everybody's situation is different, and so one can only be generic in the answers given.

fyi i was able to browse back 20 pages in less than a minute, you only need to read the thread titles. you could have done it in less than the time it took you to type your ill composed rant.

The advice you got from tom188 has been both polite & reasonable....your replies have not been.
