PO Box or alternative

I've recently started my own business working from home. It involves me going to client premises on a regular basis. I have found that I miss a lot of deliveries due to this. Is there some sort of service where I can get things delivered somewhere else and go and pick them up? From what I can tell Royal Mail PO BOX might suit this (it's mainly for parts i'm ordering, not for general business mail) however they want £244.20 pa for this service which seems a bit excessive.

Surely there must be somewhere I can get parcels delivered locally that I can pickup at a time that suits me.

I know that most delivery companies allow you to pickup from their depot, but the likes of parcel force and city link are a 20 odd mile drive from here which isn't practical.

Thanks

Brian

A few years ago I stored products at a local self storage facility and they took delivery of items for me. May be worth a look.

Some mail order firms are starting to give Collect+ as a delivery option. This is where your order is delivered to your local convenience store (most Spars do it) for you to pick up whenever it suits you.

Worth noting that a PO Box won't accept anything other than Royal Mail deliveries - so courier companies can't deliver to them, for example.

Try local business centres - most will have an address-only facility where you can have parcels and mail sent. Prices vary massively though - anything from £10 per month to £150 per month, depending on the address and operator. Definitely shop around!

found a company called myByBox, you get an address from them to get parcels delivered to and they then deliver it to a locker at a local location. This should meet my needs for most of the deliveries. The downside I can see is it adds another 24hr to the delivery time.
It's around £2.50 per parcel if you use it pay as you go.

I'll give it a try and see how I get on with it.

@hjibds, how did you get on with mybybox?
Did you find and explore any other alternatives?
