Redundancy or not ?

Options
My bosses business is currently for sale, before Christmas he had almost sold it to one of the reps that comes into the showroom. This particular rep I had no time for as thought he was a total !!!!!! (excuse the expression), he never made any effort to sell his products (not that I liked them anyway) and used to come in and make out he was your best friend, (he is 41) and the type of guy that made your skin crawl. Anyway this fell through due to lack of finance, which was a relief to myself and this guy knew I did not like him. Anyway it is all on again (nothing is signed yet) as still sorting his finances out. One of the conditions of the sale is that I no longer work there as he knows I do not like him. So my current boss has asked me if I would consider redundancy if it came to it, he knows what he is saying is illegal and I could take him to a tribunal. I have only worked there 5 years (this company approached me when they knew my previous boss was retiring so have known them for about 17 years) and work 24 hours a week (so the payout will not be great, my pay is very good but I know I will have to take a drop in wage in a new job, that I can live with and am sure I will find a job maybe not on the same line but will find one.

Any thoughts/advice on this would be appreciated

I am 46 single (separated from my husband last year) and have 2 children age 16 and 6

Sounds like staying there would be hell for you anyway

IMO you have some decent leverage to get a good compromise agreement from them and walk.
You don't want to be settling for statutory payments
