Made a boo-boo!

I've just taken out insurance with Tesco and went through all the details inputting my date as the 15th May that I need it started.

I've just this minute found my renewal and lo and behold my insurance finishes on the 12th May - duh.

Any way I can get this changed without it costing me a fortune do you know? Customer service shut at 9pm so can't phone now.

Need car for work so not driving is not an option! :rotfl:

Read what penalty there is for simply cancelling. Some insurers make no charge if you cancel before the start date.

If no fee is involved, then cancel and start again.

If there is an admin fee see how that will compare to any charge they make for making the change to the existing policy and take the cheapest option.

Either way it won't cost a "fortune" if you end up with an admin fee.

Ah, looks like there is a cooling off period.

What a nightmare, shouldn't be sorting insurance at this time of night whilst half-watching the telly - mistakes are made!

    Thanks

Even with a cooling off period there still might be charges to pay.

From the looks of the policy booklet, I can't see any reference to a cancellation charge unless you cancel once cover has commenced, so you should be fine.
