Ways to sell your laptop - advice please

Hi.

I am looking for a way to sell my Macbook Air, as I dont need it anymore (plus bit short of money). Original price I paid for it in October 2012 was £1100. Its in perfect condition, everything works great. I am not after the original price of course, 500-600 pounds will do me good.

I have been on Apple's website and seen the Dataserv service http://www.apple.com/uk/recycling/computer/, but having read the reviews not quite keen. The website valued my Macbook at £600, but I have to send it off, and they promise to pay up within 30 days, but I have read people been waiting longer without responses.

So I was wondering if anyone is aware of a quick way to sell it.
Are companies like Cash Generators or Cash Converters any good?
I am not into eBay or Amazon.

Thanks, all answers appreciated.

Ebay would have been the best the way if you wanted to get what it's actually worth. I took my ipad 2 to a cash converter shop and only got £70 for it but I was desperate that day. Have you tried craigslist?

No havent tried that yet. I was hoping to take it to a shop or a company rather than sell it privately. I will try cash converter tomorrow, see how much they will offer and take it from there. Thanks for the reply.

If anyone else has some ideas to share, please do so

You should google to see if the town you live in has a forum.
My town has an onlne forum for everything about the town.
It has a for sale board, a geeks and gadgets board and a computer/technology board.
People are always selling laptops on there.
Just google your town name and the word forum.
Also there is a Facebook page for my local town selling stuff. It's called the town name online car lot/swap shop/giveaway. So your town might have one.
Maybe also ask your local computer repair shop if they know of anywhere to advertise it.

eBay is likely to be the best place for price, as previously mentioned.

Try Gumtree too - can be a bit hit and miss, but if you time it right you may have some joy.

Hiya, yes they have 2 ways to buy it back. One is where you receive an Apple gift card for the value of the laptop , which is no good for me as no intention of spending it in apple.
The second option is in the link on my first post. And so far they have given me the best price of £600, but just worried as I have to send it off (UK address) but company that would pay me is in Germany, apparently they are not good at replying to emails and also heard people been waiting for 2-3 months for payments, instead of max 30 days.
Thanks for all the advice though guys:T

Whatever you do, if you end up selling online.. Do NOT accept paypal for collection only items. Just browse the ebay forums here for the results. You have no proof of collection/sending.

Basically ebay would be the reasonable price, but if you're desperate, then places like cex, cash converters will give you cut price for it, probably no where near what you'd want. BUT if you check on Cex uk site you can see what they buy at. I wouldn't recommend sending it off anywhere though.

Thanks for all your advice guys.

Been to Cash Generators today, they offered £300 max, and CEX £455.

I think I will just sell it privately lol :)
