Ok i know I am missing something here and this will be a real stupid small prob but here goes
My next door neighbours have an AOL account on their PC - dial up only (I know im working on that one:rolleyes: ) anyway they have bought their daughter a laptop and asked me to get that on aol as well for them (dial up again) so I have installed aol through a disc but when you go to sign on it says it cannot detect a dial tone (all connected properly I think) Pulling my hair out now and just wondered if I am missing something simple :A

If the modem is working (go to phone and modem settings in the control panel) make sure you've plugged intoo the right socket (I know it sounds stupid but I've been known to plug into the network port) and that you have the correct lead (and that it works). I tried to use my parents phone line once and the lead looked ok but it wasn't - I think it had four connections rather than the two that were needed.0

Are you using the same lead that works on the other PC?Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0
