Carpet quote

Hi all
A man is coming to see me later to quote for:
New living room carpet + underlay to include all materials and labour. The room dimensions are 5m x 4m.
Also, new kitchen vinyl. Dimensions are 3.6m x 3m.
I'm going to request reasonable quality without breaking the bank; not the cheapest, certainly not the most expensive.
Could anyone give me a rough idea of what this should cost as I don't know what to expect?
Thanks

It really depends on what you pay for the carpet and the vinyl.
There will aslo be grippers, glue etc plus labour plus possibly VAT.
So its really up in the air.
Best thing is to get another couple of quotes to be honest.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
£760! Ouch. Won't be paying that.
I'm loathe to use Carpetright as I've read so many bad things about them but their prices are good...0 -
Carpetright are fine as long as you don't buy underlay with them (3-4x more expensive that it should be), and arguably the fitting (£3/sqm which is more expensive than local carpet fitters).
Their actual carpets will be the same as any local carpet shop will stock (it's from the same manufacturers, they just change the name), but the difference is that Carpetright have better sales.
What we did is buy carpets through Carpetright when they had the '70% madness' sale on, then we're buying the underlay from TradePriced, and we're going with a local carpet fitter.
We're probably saving £600-£800 (for carpeting 4 rooms, then the hallway, stairs and landing) by doing this.0 -
I agree about carpetright, I used to be against using them, but now they allow samples to be taken home. Wait till the best sale . I prefer a good wool mix, my L room carpet and stairs are 8 yrs old . If you can only afford a lesser quality, this can cost from £5=6 a squ m off the rollstock.0
