Pressure washing

I bought a Black and Decker pressure washer a few weeks ago, but its only now I've got a chance to use it. Well, I went out last night to use it but didn't get very far. I don't know how to connect it up, as in for getting water into it. Sorry its a stupid question but the instructions book has no information, and its my first pressure washer.

If its the orange upright one, there is what looks like an inlet point on the front orange part - that should either have a hose connector on it or you'll need to put a screw thread to hose connector on there. One should be supplied but the picture seems to show a clear one!

Why does the pressure come out like a thin jet and other times it comes out a stronger jet. Is there any way to keep getting the strong jet or is that just the way they're made?

Sounds like an airlock, try operating trigger with water on and pump off till you get a constant stream of water, then try with pump on.
If water doesn't come out at constant high pressure, either insufficient supply to inlet water (maybe incompatible hoselock connector) or there's something wrong with unit or gun.

    A couple of thoughts:
Check that the hose feeding water to the washer isn't kinked or squashed.
See if the lance has an adjustment knob on the end to alter the jet pattern.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

Seems to have been an airlock after all. All sorted now though and it did a great job on my red brick walls.
