My son is 13 months and he has ...

1/2 pint full fat milk made up as porridge and a slice of toast at 730am for breakfast sometimes with a yoghurt, then he goes to nursery

Has lunch at 1130am, a full home cooked meal of something like chicken in black bean sauce or fish pie, always with lots of veg, with a yoghurt and fruit, sometimes he has 2 portions

Then he has a snack of fruit or cheese and breadsticks at 2pm

Dinner of homemade soup or jacket potato at 330pm with some more fruit and yoghurt

Comes home at 430pm, has a slice of toast and some yogurt, maybe even 2 or 3, then 8oz formula at bedtime

He's always been a good eater! But he's just over the 50th centile for his weight and up to the 75th for height :)

My DD wouldn't have got through that in a week! They are all so different.

He is a bit of a greedy guts, but he won't eat between meals and he doesn't really get any treats, he'd rather just eat his meals :) he has a bit of chocolate every now and then, maybe on a weekend if we go out for the day, he's still got loads of Easter chocolate left! Think I've been blessed with an easy eater, I was really fussy when I was little, I'm just glad he's not :)

We have 3 meals a day, 2 of them usually being warm (i.e. cooked) meals.

Breakfast around 8am (usually Cereals/Weetabix with Fruits and some Toast), lunch around 12.30 (small cooked meal) and Dinner around 6pm (proper family dinner). In between the kids have free reign on Yoghurts, Fruit, Cheese, Milk and Bread, but they will rarely eat in between meals, except for fruit.

They know where the Sweets and Treats are (we don't eat any crisps), and can help themselves. As they have access to it, they don't seem to be too bothered and maybe make use of it once a week. We are keeping a close eye on it, to make sure it will never start getting out of hand, but want to enforce a "open regime" to make sure they will be able to control themselves.

I find there is nothing worse then kids who have no access to some kinds of foods (not only treats) and then go completely mad when they finally get their hands on those things somewhere else.

My sons are now 16 and 18 and both have phenomenal appetites and have done for many years. They are, though, both extremely active and don't eat 'junk'

I have always taken the view that while they are fit, healthy and slim they can eat what they like.

There is always fruit, veg, eggs, pasta, cheese etc etc available and they just get stuck into it.

3 meals a day and fruit inbetween is the pattern i followed with my kids.

I struggle a bit with my youngest son as he's too lazy when he's at home to sort something out for his dinner so he waits from breakfast time till his evening meal.

Yes ive nagged him, yes ive tried talking nicely to him, yes ive explained he is going too long without food but i sure as heck aint gonna make it for him. He's 17 and big enough to do his own.

My DD aged 11 would be looking round for the rest! She eats more than her father and almost as much as her teenage brother. Tall, not fat, lots of lean muscle though, she does a lot of sports and burns off food at a terrific rate. She's sitting in front of her PC atm with three slices of toast and peanut butter plus a pint of milk as an after school snack, she's off to athletics in an hour and needs a top up. She'll be "starving " again come dinnertime.

That must be lovely to see Valk, I'd rather that than a pickly little sparrow like my DD.

We just do not buy the crap..My two girls eldest 24 and youngest 14 have never had soft drinks (I banned them from the house) and drink bottled water and the amounts of sugar their friends consume is horrific..
Lucozade has something like 14 teaspoons of sugar in every bottle..Look at ribena and cry..
We have a fruit bowl that is filled every few days.....That is enough
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.
