Sick to death of debt collection agencies

I am wondering if anyone has any advice. Since changing my telephone number 18 months ago, i am being bombarded with automated phone calls off debt collection agencies wanting to speak to a mrs xxxxxx, no one of that name lives here, in fact i do not know anyone of that name, so presume she must have had the number before us. On occasion when i have answered and managed to speak to somebody, i have told them the person they are after does not live at this number. However the calls are becoming more frequent and its beginning to do my head in!
I am TPS registered BTW.
Cheers

Theres a template letter on the debt board that you could send which warns if they carry on the harrassment then they can find themselves in a lot of trouble0

I think after 18 months of harassment (and very likely before that) I would be requesting to change my phone number again...0 -

Debtors often tell Creditors that their number has changed or they have moved. It's the oldest trick in the book which is why these scumbags are still calling.
The only way to stop it is to ask the caller for the name and address of the company so you can write to them and order them to cease and desist. Even better register it as an official complaint and ask for compo for the harassment - say £100. Normally I hate compo but compo from scumbag sharks is fair game. The man without a signature.0 -
If you don't want to change your number and have a bit of spare cash, look into a TrueCall unit. I wouldn't be without ours now! But it's around £95.0

I would second the TrueCall suggestion, fantastic bit of kit
. I wouldn't be without one now.
Good enough is good enough, and I am more than good enough!:j
If all else fails, remember, keep calm and hug a spaniel!0 -
ask BT for a change of number due to harassment calls. much less palaver! also go ex-directory - that will help.0
