Please can someone advise me what to do next, I bought an indesit washing machine from tescos 17 mths ago. We are a family of 4 who do usual amount of wachine - not very dirty clothes- but it has now broken / bent the spider which has in turn made the drum spin off centre, ruptured the outer drum which has disintergrated the door seal. Tecos say it was only guarented for 1 yr so indesit problem, indiset say that they will send out an engineer for £85 who will repair (I have 5 years parts) but if he deems it unrepairable they will refund me minus £56 call out.
I have said the machine is not fit for purpose so they have told me to go back to tescos and quote sales of goods act so they replace !!
What do i do ive checked mse sad fart which says 'reasonable time' is 17 mths too long ???
Thanks for any advice

Simply quoting the SOGA isn't likely to get you anywhere.
You need to understand what part of the act applies to the situation and also what you may be required to .
The act does state that goods must last a reasonable time, but it also states that after 6 months from purchase, the onus is on the purchaser to show that the item failed due to a manufacturing defect and not from misuse.
You may well be asked to provide a report from an independent engineer or company stating exactly what the fault was and how they think it was caused.
If you can get this report, Tesco should offer a remedy which could be a repair, replacement (unlikely this long after the sale) or a refund (again, unlikely to be a full refund but you never know).
This refund can have a deduction from the price paid to cover the 17 months use you have had from the washer.
If the report is in your favour, you should also ask Tesco to cover the cost of it.
Before you do anything about a report or inspection, contact Tesco and see what they say.0
