Classic Car Insurance

I have a classic mini and Adrian Flux this year quoted me £160 to insure my Sidewalk, which is an increase of £20 so I went on to a comparison site. After searching a few I found a better price of £118 with Adrian Flux !!!!!. So I queried this over the phone and they offered me the £118 policy, I said I would shop around.

Which I did and got it down to £92.84 with Cherished Vehicles, not on the comparison sites, I emailed Adrian Flux referring them to my offer of £92.84.

And today I got an email saying they could give me a years insurance with exactly the same details and cover as last years agreed valuation etc, for £90, thats £70 cheaper than their first quote.

So it just goes to show what a con this insurance is, if all these companies where being honest and giving a fair price there would be no need for comparison sites.

It's always a good idea to check other prices at renewal time.

You will generally find that a renewal premium is more expensive than a quote for a new customer. Insurers make very little money from customers who only stay with them for 1 year.

The 1st years premium is normally discounted to attract your business and then they will depend on apathy, etc that you will renew the following year. The amount of any increase will differ.

It is irritating but you can make a choice (as with most products that you buy).

By the way, who are you are insuring with? Did you accept the Adrian Flux quote for £90? (I'm sure you know you will have this issue again next yearas they have clearly discounted the policy from their normal rates to keep your business!)

I've been with Norton Insurance for quite a few years, I do shop around from time to time but without any significant change in price - not enough to be worth the hassle of providing new photos and so on.

Will check again this year, though. Last year on my "normal" car I got the insurers down by quite a bit by quoting the various prices I'd had on a comparison site, the year before they wouldn't budge at all.
