Hi I have just bought a victorian house and would like to replace the damaged skirting boards with similar 9 inch boards. However I am finding it difficult to locate any, does anyone know where I can find them or how much they may be?
Thankyou
Thankyou

I would go to a wood yard and try to mach up or go to a rec yard and do the same.0

I had the same problem. Had to get it made at a local timber yard, they are
great they make doors, windows, anything, just take the old one in and they copy it.
Or get a router and have a go at it yourself;)Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:

When I wanted to replace mine which were 12 inch depth, I discovered tht the fancy architrave bit was solid timber and the rest of it (the 9 inch straight bit for want of a better description) was solid ply. This was the original and although good for now running cables behind it couldnt have been for that reason originally.
I think your only way forward is to take a section into your local timber merchant that has milling facilties, somewhere like Jewsons and they will be able to make something very similar. Wil not be cheap, but then restoring Victorian houses isn't. Good luck.0 -
Thanks for your help, might try seeing if they are open today. I cant restore my entire house as I only have a small budget for a lot of jobs ie new combi boiler, electrics, flooring etc but the jobs I can restore I will such as the skirting. The cornicing in the house along with the high ceilings is just immaculate. One day I can move in...Saving needed to emigrate to Oz*September 2015*

Hi Icklejules
Look in yellow pages under salvage and reclamation, there is a few lytham and preston. Also, it was a while back, but think there was an advert in Gazette for someone called Robinsons who did reclaimed wood, I nearly used them but instead used Lascos (have website) who didnt charge much postage for a load of reclaimed wood flooring- worth a look.
In the past i have used Parkinsons ( mowbray dr) the joinery section to have some wood routed - they were super helpful. Down same road is S and S timber and Chadwicks which have all offered good service. Another helpful place is North Shore workshop on dickson road.
Obviously goes without saying that my only relationship to any of these firms is from a customer point of view and I hold no shares in any of them!!!:rotfl:
Good luck!0 -

They are on the Blackpool side of Preston just down from McDonalds on the bypass to Liverpool.
They should be able to make to suit, did some 9" for me 3 years ago to match our skirting.Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -
So much more advice than I thought... Had a word with Layton Timber shop(not sure of name) and they do it but t will not match existing. It is £1.50per foot(price dependant on quantity of my order). Luckily today we realised upstairs was originally 7foot so thats not too scary!Saving needed to emigrate to Oz*September 2015*
