Might be worth buying another stick of ram too. Presumably if your PC is 4 years old it won't have very much. It's a dead cheap and easy way to get more speed from your computer.

Firstly go to https://www.crucial.com/uk. Use their system scanner software to tell you what type of and how much ram you have at the moment.

Then you can either buy the ram directly from them, but it's pretty expensive. Or come back here and we'll point you in the right direction.

You haven't really said what the problem is, what are your current symptoms if any?

Hmm, just sometimes i seem to get a corrupted file, and on start-up, it repairs it!!

Do you know which file, is it the same file every time? How often does it happen, does it happen after you haven't shutdown properly (after a program crash or machine hang for example).

Running chkdsk c: /F/R and rebooting should check the filesystem for corruptions.

I think you may have run ChkDisk before. If not; http://www.ferris.edu/tac/SoftwareHardware/00027000.cfm

Run it when you have something else to do.

If all is fine, then I can send you an XP Pro disc in order for you to repair your installation with the application Browntoa suggested.

There is an option to do a full reinstall, if necessary. But that's another story.

right ive set pc to do this!!
