Lloyds Tsb Reclaiming charges

Hi all
I banked with Lloyds for around ten years. In that time ive had around £1000 took from me in bank charges.
After been made redundant from my job we are finding making ends meet hard.
Could I still try to claim the charges back as we are in financial hardship or have I missed the boat so to speak?
cheers guys

Hardship does relate to your current situation but they do typically only look at charges linked to this period of hardship. Not charges that were made before you were in hardship.

If you dont ask you dont get but don't get your hopes up on historical charges.

  • The charges I would like to claim back date back to the last six years so it may not be worth it unless i can say ive been struggling financialy for the last six years

You could say that but hardship cases wouldn't apply to 6 years ago. You might get 6 months worth. You will need evidence of financial hardship, your claim will be looked into in depth.
  • the problem is in now with a different bank so i haven't had any charges off Lloyds for over a year

In that case i can't see you getting any sort of refund from them. They would have expected you to query the charges at the time, not a year after they were made.
  • Yeah ill leave it then but thank you for your help. Just something I was wondering about.
    Thanks

No bank would even consider a refund of charges if you are no longer a customer of theirs.

You can only hope to recover some charges on your main bank account i.e. the one your usual main income (which includes benefits) is paid directly into.

Have you any recent bank charges on your main current account? If so, this MSE article on reclaiming bank charges may be useful to you :)
